Retirement Sunday
After 21 years of faithful service to Victory Baptist Church and the Florissant/Hazelwood community Pastor Mike Andrews retired as Pastor. In his 21 years of service Pastor and Mrs. Andrews have been though a lot but would tell you that God has been good. Their faithfulness and heart for the Lord has made a tremendous impact on countless lives and they will always be loved as part of the Victory family.
Tree of Lights Offering
The Lord enabled us to raise $1800 in our annual “Tree of Lights” offering this year. We divided the offering between three missionary wives who had lost their husbands this year suddenly and unexpectedly. Along with the offering we send our love and our prayers to Mrs. Sherry Young, Mrs. Pam Quinlan and Mrs. Lisa Lyons.
We will not forget you wonderful ladies.
2018 Victory Sports Camps
Sports Camp 2018
Well, this was our first time our church has hosted an activity like this so leading up to it there was a bit of apprehension as to how it would all come together. With the goal of seeing young people saved and families added to our church, as well as a community outreach, we trusted that the Lord would work these things out. In the months of preparation for Sports Camp the Lord worked out all of the logistics. We made flyers to pass out in the community as well as banners to go out in front of the church for people to see as they drove by. Within a couple hours of posting the banners, people had begun calling to register for our two-day event. We ended up with over 30 registrations which was very encouraging to see.
We had a special guest come to host our first Sports Camp—Pastor Charles Hamilton, of King James Bible Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. Pastor Hamilton played basketball and baseball all through high school and went on to play professionally as a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals from 2000-2002. With his joyful and patient spirit, he was able to help the kids learn some helpful skills and tips. We had about 25 for basketball camp the first day and then 19 the next day for baseball camp. Most importantly, halfway through we had them take a break for snacks and drinks, as Bro. Hamilton shared the gospel with them. We saw 12 kids raised their hand to say the had gotten saved. Praise the Lord! We hope to see them come visit our church in the near future
We want to say thank you to the Hazelwood School District and Lawson Elementary School for allowing us to use their facilities. Thank you to the members of Victory Baptist Church who helped provide sports equipment and finances to purchase snacks and drinks as well. To our “coaching staff” who helped run drills and registration during the camp, and all those who earnestly prayed. Most of all we thank the Lord for blessing the way He did! ALL glory belongs to Him for allowing this outreach opportunity to be fruitful!
55 Years of Victory Baptist Church
On March 4th, we celebrated 55 years of Victory Baptist Church. It was wonderful to look back on the many thing the Lord has done and is continuing to do. It was also a blessing to see some "old friends" of Victory. We heard great preaching in the morning from Pastor Mike Andrews, following by a great time of fellowship over lunch. After lunch, we heard from our staff preachers, Elijah Jarvis, Jim Holbrook, and Brandon Shull. (You can hear all 4 sermons on our Media page) We are thankful to the Lord for a great day and are looking forward to many more years of preaching the gospel across the globe.
Pastor's Philippines Trip
Brother Andrews had a wonderfully blessed time in the Pilippine Islands the second and third week of January. He was privileged to preach for our missionary Brother John Quinlan in Angeles City twice. Over the course of the two weeks he was there, he preached ten times in the church that he and Mrs. Andrews started thirty years ago and in several of the churches started from that ministry.
The highlight of the trip was the "Home-coming" on Saturday, January 20 with approximately 350 in attendance and as many as thirty professions of faith. The "icing on the cake" was the thirtieth anniversary of the church he started along with Mrs. Andrews. The response of the pastor and people of the church was truly marvelous.
Pastor Andrews only regrets that the entire church could not be there for the amazing experience he was privileged to enjoy.
Praise the Lord!
